The short answer
A Florida clinic first answers one question: does it need an AHCA health care clinic license ($2,000 every 2 years plus $300 per location) or does an exemption fit (a certificate of exemption is $100 every 2 years)? That's a fact question for you and your attorney; we prepare the fact sheet. Beyond that, Florida biomedical waste permits expire every Sep 30 ($85 if paid by Oct 1, $105 after), Class IIIB/IV lasers are registered with the Department of Health within 30 days of acquisition (no fee), and Florida has had no state clinical lab license since Jul 1, 2018, so waived-test sites renew their federal CLIA certificate. The federal layer (CLIA, OSHA, DEA) applies too.

Does my Florida med spa need an AHCA clinic license?
It depends on the facts. Florida's clinic definition covers entities that tender charges for reimbursement, with many exemptions, including practitioner-owned entities. You and your attorney decide; we prepare a fact sheet and the license or certificate of exemption renewal.
When does a Florida biomedical waste permit expire?
Every Sep 30. The Department of Health lists $85 if paid by Oct 1 and $105 after. Permits apply to generators of 25 lb or more per 30 days.
Do I have to register a laser in Florida?
Class IIIB and IV lasers are registered with the Department of Health within 30 days of acquisition, per location, with no fee. You update the registration if a laser is altered, moved, sold or disposed of, and you designate a laser safety officer.
Does Florida license CLIA-waived labs?
No. Florida ended state clinical lab licensure on Jul 1, 2018. Your federal CLIA certificate still applies.
